Midnight cookies - a.k.a the dark moon chocolate kick

I know they are not much to look at BUT, I think I may have found the perfect recipe for when you just NEED chocolate and have none in the house and a cup of cocoa just ain't gonna cut it.
I introduce the Midnight Cookie. yummy cocoa-y crispy, and hits the chocolate spot.
The recipe comes from this book mum got for me a while back, and perfect on a day like today, when I have a splitting headache, and the smell of last nights Dark moon/menstrual ritual incense and patchouli oil is making me want to heave.
If anyone else need a choccy hit here is the recipe:

4 1/2 OZ butter
6 OZ sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 OZ pl flour
1 1/4 OZ cocoa
1/2 tsp bicarb

mix it all together,
spread flattened blobs on baking paper, bake at 180c for about 15-20 mins or till done. voila !
No need to thank me :)

Ponderings, and Binscarth in the spring

Whilst washing the dishes I often find my mind wandering and pondering on the most random of things. Today was no exception, and I thought to myself, why is it that when a celebrity dies in unusual circumstances, it is assumed it must be drugs related, unless of course said celebrity is gay in which it is assumed it must be sex games related. Just a thought. If I or another pagan were to die under odd circumstances would it be assumed to be occult related?

Also just some piccies I took at our local woods a couple of weeks ago :)

Cat Baskets

Just a quick post as I have already spent far too long on this computer today, as per usual.
I finally got around to finishing the second of two cat baskets I was sewing for my two snuggle puss cats, Poppy & Milly. Using fabric from a second hand duvet set I had bought, and sections cut off an old duvet from the stuffing round the sides. I also added a layer of old blanket between the base layers which the pattern hadn't called for, but I felt it needed.
The pattern came from a book called Sewing in No Time by Emma Hardy
Also whilst trawling through some of my pics I found this one of a crocheted witch I made for a Halloween swap last year, isn't she cute :)

The Wedding Pics

Hi everyone, I must be a terrible blogger, it has already been 3 weeks since the wedding and i am just now getting my backside in gear and posting a blogpost. I have no excuses other than chillin after the rush that was the planning and doing before the wedding.
So here we go with just a sneak peek at the photos that I have received so far, beginning with just before the ceremony in our garden. We are fortunate enough to live in Scotland where you can be Handfasted legally by a registered celebrant, eliminating the need for all that registry office boring bit :) The ceremony was conducted by our friend Helen who is the registered Scottish pagan federation celebrant for Orkney :-) BTW anyone can be handfasted up here so if you want her number give me and email :)
After the ceremony everyone retired to the cottage for the homebrew (strong stuff is that dandelion wine) and food, during which we cut the cake :)
To reveal the surprise rainbow interior, I think the cake got more pics taken than we did lol

lilies cages

The weather has been glorious here the past couple of day, yesterday afternoon being so warm that after a couple of hours i had to retire to the house as it was just too warm, we seem to have acclimatised to Orkney temperatures, i ma fairly sure when family are visiting in a couple of weeks they will be saying they are cold :)

I had cut some branches from our trees a few days ago and have been using them to make various things.
Trees are scarce up here, so it would be a crime not to use all prunings in some useful way.
I constructed these two cage like structures yesterday for the Turks hat/head lilies we have in the front garden, they tend to fall over as they are so tall and heavy, and thought these would look much nicer than last years "piece of twine wrapped round a piece of old pallet affair"
I have also cut a stout branch for a new staff, another for a broom pole, two shaped branches for making woven flags, and another two for making whimsical chandeliers.
i have a buckets full of small prunnings left over from making the cages which will go on a pile to dry out for kindling, and john wants the remaining chunky branches for 'ornamental logs' for the fire place.
plus i have a pile of twiggy branches for pea supports, an i am only half way through the pile :)
Unfortunately the weather turned late yesterday afternoon and the Har rolled in ( think salty sea fog), and although the har is gone this morning, it is a damp cloudy day, a day for inside tasks. luckily I have plenty to be getting on with as there is less than 3 weeks till the wedding and so far have no dress, no food planned, no decor, no cake, no flowers decided upon, not finalised to ceremony wording, not wrote my vows......
hmmm.... i think i will go hem some curtains :)
